Family Fun in Minnesota

At long last, Silas and Zoe got to meet some of their family in Minnesota! We stayed over Memorial Day weekend with my Aunt Sue and Uncle Bob (Sue is my mom's youngest sister) at their beautiful house on Lake Minnetonka. Sue and Stephanie gave us a hand with the babies when we arrived on Saturday while Derek & I got us all settled in.

On Sunday, we had a BBQ with Stephanie and her husband Jim, Jim's dad and his partner Bill, and my dad & Mary. My dad broke his leg back in December so he has been unable to travel to Boston to meet Silas & Zoe. We have all been very excited for when they could finally meet in person! We waited for everyone out on the front lawn.

When everyone arrived, Silas went to Grampa Westerlund first.

And Zoe played with Uncle Jim.

Then Zoe wanted to join the party on the couch.

Uncle Jim had fun getting to know them too!

As did Jim's dad.

The babies were a little cranky and overwhelmed with all the new people, so Derek and I took them down to the lake for some exploration.

There are a lot of reeds and tall grasses in which frogs hide!

It was an awesome day hanging out with my family before we headed to North Dakota on Memorial Day. We can't wait to see the Hovanec-Hartley crew for a little Westerlund family reunion before we head back to Boston!

Silas' Blog

Well it's been a busy 3 years since I last posted! Stay tuned as we may have more posts coming now that it looks like I have a new contributor... Silas recently read a book called "Starting Your Own Blog", and now he is bound and determined for us to let him start his own blog! We convinced him that he should start out by drafting content and a posting calendar. We made templates this morning and he wrote his first "post" today!

The Best of Project 366

2012 is coming to a close and I have officially completed Project 366 ! I managed to take and post and keep track of 365 photos out of 366 total days this year. I only missed one day and it was for a pretty good cause . Believe me, these pictures don't take themselves. I shot just under 7000 pictures this year. Once I got an iPhone in March all of the pictures were taken with my phone (~ 5500 pictures!). The camera on the iPhone is really good, I always have it with me, and I like playing around with the filters and other editing tools available in photography apps like Instagram, Camera+, Diptic, and Gridditor. Since I have put so much time, love and energy into Project 366 I thought I should select a few "Best Of's". I had a great time putting this together, and I hope you enjoy these highlights as well! The Blog Book is Here!!!

My friend, Tom, told me about a website where you can order a bound copy of your blog. I've had it on my radar for awhile, but I finally just got around to making a book of the first year of entries. It starts with 'Icing on the Cake' , the last entry before they were born, and it ends with Halloween . It turned out better than I could have imagined! I cried when I opened it... One hundred ninety-four pages of love, photos, stories, and milestones!
